Position Summary

As an SMT (Surface Mount Technology) Machine Operator, you will play a vital role in the precision-driven world of electronics manufacturing. Your responsibilities encompass a range of critical tasks, from machine set-up to meticulous PCB (Printed Circuit Board) inspection, ensuring the smooth operation of the SMT assembly line. Your expertise and attention to detail will contribute to the production of high-quality electronic components.



Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Machine set up to job specs

  • Operating SMT machines

  • Set up of the SMT assembly line

  • PCB inspection

  • Monitoring and maintaining machinery and equipment

  • Use of calipers and micrometers, subassembly, and use of blueprints and drawings

  • Set up and operate SMT machines (e.g., pick-and-place, solder paste printers, reflow ovens)

  • Perform visual and automated inspections of boards for proper component placement and soldering quality

  • Load components onto feeders and verify part numbers, quantities, and orientation

  • Read and interpret assembly drawings, bills of materials (BOMs), and job travelers

  • Monitor the SMT line and make real-time adjustments to ensure quality and production targets are met

  • Perform basic maintenance and troubleshooting on SMT equipment

  • Ensure proper ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) procedures are followed

  • Record production data and report any defects or process issues to the supervisor or quality team

  • Support continuous improvement initiatives in the SMT area

  • Maintain a clean and organized work area

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented production environment

  • The manufacturing environment may require standing for extended periods


Required Education and Experience 

  • 1-4 years’ experience in SMT

  • Experience with SMT Machine and Mirtec (AOI) (experience with Juki is a plus)

  • Ability to work independently

  • Familiarity with electronic component identification

  • Ability to follow the production schedule and all production and safety procedures

  • Computer literacy

  • Ability to read and interpret shop floor paperwork

  • Strong leadership skills


Desired Experience 

  • SMT rework soldering

  • SMT programming

  • SMT Equipment troubleshooting

  • IPC-610 certification
