Position Summary
The Test Team Lead is responsible for overseeing the performance and compliance of the testing team, ensuring adherence to operational standards while providing effective leadership and clear task assignments. This role involves motivating team members to enhance productivity without compromising quality, conducting regular checks on finished products, and maintaining meticulous records of performance and contributions. The Test Team Lead also prioritizes safety by ensuring all team members are equipped with necessary protective gear and trained in safety procedures. Acting as a liaison between team members and management, the lead facilitates communication and drives meetings while troubleshooting and maintaining test equipment to uphold high-quality standards. With a strong focus on continuous improvement, this position demands exceptional organizational, interpersonal, and technical skills to support a collaborative and efficient testing environment.
The Test Team Lead will report to the Production Manager
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Monitor team members to ensure compliance with operational standards.
- Provide leadership and assign tasks with clear direction.
- Motivate workers to enhance production quantity while maintaining quality standards.
- Check finished products for workmanship quality.
- Keep records of worker performance, recognizing contributions and encouraging teamwork.
- Ensure the team has necessary protective equipment and prioritize safety, educating members on safety protocols.
- Ensure the team follows ESD protocols, providing required tools such as heel straps, smocks, and wrist straps.
- Facilitate communication between team members and management, leading meetings as needed.
- Maintain test equipment and operate it to determine failure parameters, recording results in the Quality Management System.
- Follow procedures to identify workmanship and material defects.
- Conduct routine tests on circuits and components according to established procedures.
- Perform troubleshooting activities per defined techniques and procedures.
- Affix defect tags and maintain records of tested units, conveying results for inspection.
- Troubleshoot PCBs to the component level, interpreting schematics and assembly drawings.
- Recommend improvements for products and test processes.
Required Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Preferred: 3+ years of experience in electronics manufacturing.
- Preferred: Graduate from a technical school in electronics with the ability to identify component types and read values of integrated circuits, resistors, and capacitors.
- Proficient in using hand tools and general test equipment (multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies).
- Ability to read and understand schematics, drawings, and other technical documentation.
- Strong attention to detail and quality; able to perform under pressure.
- Excellent teamwork and interpersonal communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Windows and understanding of materials handling.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Adaptable to change and flexible in approach.
- Capable of operating semiautomatic machines and related equipment.
- Good hand/eye coordination.
